One November Morning

ONE NOVEMBER MORNING

I walked swiftly in the ancient passageway
One November morning – it was Wednesday
My hair was messy and my face a little bit oily
While wearing my t-shirt: “Must have coffee”

I walked swiftly in the ancient passageway
One November morning – it was Wednesday
Trying to remember each formula I memorized yesterday
Wishing I could survive the whole day

I turned right and suddenly my heart stopped beating
Like an ancient clock that stopped ticking
My eyes were blurry as I saw the crowd going my direction
But only one clear image caught my attention

He was carrying his heavy bag while walking sluggishly
Like a foreigner in a new country
Maybe he’s a bit somnolent
Because he’s listening to his iPod as of the moment

He was walking east to west
And I, west to east
One November morning – it was Wednesday
What a wonderful day

I wanted to turn back, and walk as fast as I could
But doing that, I know it would be rude
Then I wondered, what if I walk with him
But I hesitated because I might annoy him

I have no choice but to continue walking toward him
My lips slightly forming a beam
We’re seven yards away from each other
My heart is pounding harder

Now I don’t know if this is a dream
He met my gaze and I saw his eyes gleam
Like Polaris—the northern star
That twinkles even from afar

We are now about to pass each other
Exchanging smiles and wave to one another
I wish the hands of time could never move once more
So we could stay like this forevermore

It was indeed a wonderful feeling
Seeing the guy who completes your whole being
The one who erases your worries
With his smiles as sweet as strawberries

I don’t know if this is already a happy ending
Or just a chapter in a tale that fate is writing
All I know is that this story I’m narrating
Happened one November morning
